Epiphany

I’ve asked some of our sisters to be guest bloggers, sharing their reflections and experiences.
I received this post today from Agnes Anderson IHM, who reflected on her call to IHM:

This week’s feast of Epiphany, where wise ones came from afar seeking the Savior, brought back memories for me of being missioned afar by the IHM Congregation. In the 1970s and 1980s I was called to teach and to train teachers in a rural area of northern Ghana in West Africa.

One of my most profound learnings during those years was the commonality among us. People the world over celebrate special days with activities that include family and friends, a meal together, wearing of our finest garb, and participating in traditional festivities.

How enriching to celebrate a feast with those from other races, cultures, backgrounds, ways of looking at and doing things….

Pictures can help tell my story.

People gather for liturgy at the local parish. Artwork on the pillars was drawn and colored as the mud dried in the construction of this church.

My prayer this week is that, like the magi,
I might follow the Light of my life with a generous heart
In continuing fidelity to God’s call
Wherever the journey may take me!

Let us celebrate God’s presence in our world!
